❓ What Makes Katlov Lakes & Homes Special?
Katlov Lakes & Homes combines three catch-&-release waters with different focuses: carp fishing on Katlov and Medenice, and catfish fishing on Pohan. On top of that, Katlov Homes offers four holiday homes for anglers, families and friends. That way you can combine specialist fishing sessions with a holiday and accommodation.
Katlov Lakes & Homes – Fishing near Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic
Around 14 kilometres from Kutná Hora, three different fishing lakes share one concept that brings together fishing, nature and holidays.

Katlov Lakes is located in Central Bohemia, around 14 kilometres from Kutná Hora and about one kilometre from Červené Janovice. The offer includes the three lakes Katlov, Pohan and Medenice plus Katlov Homes as accommodation for longer stays.
All three lakes are managed on a catch-&-release basis. At the same time, they differ markedly in size, structure and target species. That lets you choose your stay according to whether carp fishing, catfish fishing or a mix of fishing and holiday is your priority.
Closely linked to Katlov Lakes is Czech angler Jakub Vágner, whom the operator names as the guarantor of Katlov Lakes.
Lake Katlov – Carp Fishing in the Czech Republic on 25 Hectares
25 hectares of water, three large islands, numerous plateaus and 17 swims make Katlov the largest carp lake in the Katlov Lakes line-up.

Lake Katlov covers around 25 hectares and lies at roughly 446 metres above sea level. The average water depth is about 2.5 metres.
For carp anglers, it is the structure that makes the lake particularly interesting: it has three large islands, numerous underwater plateaus, varying depths and weedy areas. That gives you plenty of options for choosing spots and presenting your bait.
There are 17 swims in total around Katlov. 14 of them were built as small peninsulas, and the other three are on the dam. According to the operator, the swims are roughly 100 metres apart.
Katlov is clearly aimed at carp anglers who want to spend several intensive days on a feature-rich water. Depending on the swim, bookings are for one or two anglers.
If you want to dig deeper into location, choosing spots, baiting strategy and longer sessions, you’ll find more of the basics in our carp fishing section.
Lake Pohan – Catfish Fishing in the Czech Republic with Just 3 Swims
Pohan follows a completely different concept from Katlov: the compact 4-hectare lake is set up for targeted catfish fishing and has just three swims.

Lake Pohan lies right next to Katlov and covers around 4 hectares. The average depth is about 2.5 metres. Areas of varying depth and an island give the lake its structure.
What stands out is the small number of swims: there are only three swims on the whole of Pohan. They are separated from each other, and each one has its own sector for catfish fishing.
While Katlov and Medenice are geared towards carp, Pohan is all about the wels catfish. That means Katlov Lakes offers two very different styles of fishing at one destination.
Pohan has its own rules for catfish fishing. So always check the current fishery rules and the requirements for your planned method directly with the operator.
Lake Medenice – Carp Fishing on 10 Hectares with 9 Swims
Medenice adds a smaller carp lake to Katlov: 10 hectares of water, an average depth of 2.9 metres and just nine swims.

Lake Medenice lies around five kilometres from Katlov, near Paběnice. The lake covers about 10 hectares and has a total of 9 swims.
According to the operator, the average depth is around 2.9 metres. Along the dam, depths range from about 1.7 to four metres depending on the area. Weed and varied margins create extra features for choosing your spot.
Medenice is also aimed at carp anglers. With only nine swims, each swim gets a correspondingly large area of water – interesting for longer sessions on a more compact lake.
Which Katlov Lake Suits Your Fishing Holiday?
Katlov, Pohan and Medenice belong to one shared offer – but differ clearly in lake size, target species and number of swims.
- Katlov: 25 hectares · 17 swims · carp · large, feature-rich lake.
- Pohan: 4 hectares · 3 swims · catfish · specialist catfish water.
- Medenice: 10 hectares · 9 swims · carp · more compact carp lake.
That lets you choose your stay by target species, lake size and the kind of session you want – from multi-day carp fishing to targeted catfish fishing.
Fishing with Accommodation in the Czech Republic – Katlov Homes
Katlov Homes links the fishing lakes with proper holiday accommodation – including a swim next to the cabin and room for your fishing tackle.

Katlov Lakes includes the Katlov Homes: four family holiday homes in the middle of nature, between two lakes and near Kutná Hora. That way you can combine a fishing trip with a classic holiday stay.
The houses are designed for up to seven people. According to Katlov, the accommodation concept includes a swim next to the cabin, storage for fishing tackle and outdoor seating.
That makes Katlov Homes especially interesting if you are looking for fishing with accommodation in the Czech Republic or want to travel with friends, a partner or family without every guest having to spend the whole time at the swim.
Katlov Homes – Kitchen, Living Area & Room for Your Fishing Tackle
Katlov Homes is more than just a place to sleep: the holiday homes are designed for longer stays out in nature.

The living area has a fully equipped kitchen. According to Katlov, this includes a fridge, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and kettle. A dining table and a small living area complete the set-up.
There is also storage for fishing tackle and outdoor seating. That keeps your tackle stowed away while the holiday home serves as a shared base for the whole stay.
Being close to Kutná Hora also opens up options for trips away from the water. That is especially appealing if you want to combine a fishing holiday and a family holiday.
Catch & Release – Fish Welfare at Katlov, Pohan & Medenice
All three Katlov Lakes waters follow the catch-&-release principle – which is why each lake’s fish welfare rules matter.
The specific rules differ between Katlov, Pohan and Medenice. Depending on the lake, there are rules on rods, lines, rigs, baits, the use of boats and the handling of caught fish.
If you are planning a session, always check not only your preferred swim but also the current fishery rules for that lake directly with Katlov Lakes.
