Iron Claw Spinning Combo – PRO Guide S 275-M & PRO 3000S as a Strong Predator Set-Up

The Iron Claw Spinning Combo pairs the PRO Guide S 275-M with the PRO 3000S fixed-spool reel to create a versatile predator set-up. The 2.75 m rod covers a casting weight of 12 to 44 g, while the 3000-size reel with 5+1 ball bearings, a 5.2:1 gear ratio and an aluminium spool rounds off the combo nicely.

  • PRO Guide S 275-M: 2.75 m length, 12–44 g casting weight and 194 g rod weight.
  • PRO 3000S: 3000-size fixed-spool reel with 5+1 ball bearings and a 5.2:1 gear ratio.
  • Quality components: 30T carbon blank, X-wrap, TORAYCA carbon reel seat and Fuji K-Type guides.
  • For medium lure fishing: well suited to lures and to targeting zander, pike and bigger perch.

If you’re after a versatile spinning combo with a longer rod and a 3000-size reel for zander, pike and bigger perch, this combination hits a really strong middle ground.

Iron Claw PRO Guide S 275-M – 2.75 m of Power for Medium Lure Fishing

The Iron Claw PRO Guide S 275-M is 2.75 m long and designed for lure weights from 12 to 44 g. The blank is made from 30T carbon fibre with a full-length X-wrap.

Iron Claw PRO Guide S 275-M spinning rod, 2.75 m long with a 12 to 44 g casting weight
The Iron Claw PRO Guide S 275-M combines a length of 2.75 m with a casting weight of 12 to 44 g.

It comes with a TORAYCA carbon reel seat and Fuji K-Type guides. The slightly triangular carbon fibre handle has a rubber coating. The two-piece rod weighs around 194 g and has a transport length of about 143 cm.

12–44 g Casting Weight – Versatile for a Wide Range of Lures

The casting weight of 12 to 44 g describes the lure weight range the manufacturer intends for the rod. That puts the PRO Guide S 275-M in the medium range of modern spinning rods.

Depending on how you rig them, crankbaits, soft lures, jig heads, spoons or other lures can fall within this weight range. What always counts is the total weight of the rig, not just the weight of the lure itself.

Zander, Pike & Big Perch – What the 2.75 m Spinning Rod Is Made For

A 2.75 m spinning rod with a medium casting weight comes into its own when you need casting distance and lure control. That’s exactly why the PRO Guide S 275-M is a particularly good match for zander, pike and bigger perch with suitably matched lures.

Which target species really suit the set-up also depends on the water, lure size, line, leader and fishing style. That makes the 12–44 g class more versatile than a specialist rod built for just one species.

Iron Claw PRO 3000S – the Matching 3000-Size Reel for the Combo

The Iron Claw PRO 3000S is a fixed-spool reel from the PRO series. It has 5+1 ball bearings, a 5.2:1 gear ratio, an aluminium spool and a graphite body.

The arbor of the aluminium spool has a roughened or knurled surface designed to take braid. On top of that, there’s a CNC aluminium handle arm and a T-shaped knob in grippy rubber.

A 3000-Size Reel for Zander & Pike – Is It the Right Size?

A 3000-size fixed-spool reel is often the choice when you want a good balance between line capacity, reel weight and stability. Paired with a 2.75 m spinning rod in the 12–44 g range, it makes a classic set-up for medium predator fishing.

Whether the size suits your fishing depends on target species, lure weight, line and venue. For very light perch fishing, a smaller reel can make more sense; for much heavier pike set-ups, a bigger reel can have its advantages.

PRO Guide S 275-M + PRO 3000S – Why the Combo Works So Well

For medium lure fishing, the two really work well together: the PRO Guide S 275-M covers a versatile lure range of 12–44 g, while the PRO 3000S, with its matching size and line capacity, is built for exactly the same kind of fishing.

Iron Claw matches its PRO reels to its own PRO rod series. When it comes to fine-tuning, though, your line, lure weights, target species and preferred fishing method are what really decide it.

Iron Claw Spinning Combo from the Bank – Where the 2.75 m Rod Comes into Its Own

When you’re lure fishing from the bank, the 2.75 m rod is a real plus. The extra length helps with casting distance and line control over marginal shelves, rocks or vegetation.

The PRO 3000S rounds off the set-up with a classic reel size for medium predator fishing. For small streams, very tight bank spots or ultralight lures, on the other hand, a shorter and lighter combo would often be more practical.

You’ll find more on suitable methods, lures and predator tackle in our Predator Fishing section.

Who Is the Iron Claw Spinning Combo Right For?

The combo is a great fit if you’re looking for a 2.75 m spinning rod with a 3000-size reel for medium-weight lures and want a well-matched rod and reel set-up straight away.

The combo is especially suited to you if you:

  • want to fish lures of roughly 12 to 44 g,
  • prefer a longer spinning rod for fishing from the bank,
  • target zander, pike or bigger perch,
  • are looking for a 3000-size fixed-spool reel as a versatile reel size,
  • and value components such as Fuji K-Type guides and a TORAYCA carbon reel seat.

The combo shows its biggest strengths in medium lure fishing for zander, pike and bigger perch – exactly where a 12–44 g rod paired with a 3000-size reel fits best.

Verdict: A Strong Spinning Combo for Zander, Pike & Bigger Perch

The Iron Claw PRO Guide S 275-M and PRO 3000S make a medium lure fishing set-up with a 2.75 m rod and a 3000-size fixed-spool reel. The rod covers a 12–44 g casting weight, while the reel brings 5+1 ball bearings, a 5.2:1 gear ratio and an aluminium spool.

That makes the combination a good fit above all for anglers who fish medium-weight lures for zander, pike or bigger perch and prefer a longer rod for fishing from the bank.
